The words leap off thepage and dance! I became a Rumi-aholic, but rarely stray from Barks translations.
I’ve added it to Thoreau’s Walden and the holy books. And you can start to think that if everyone read this sort of poetry, devoted their lives to this sort of being, that everything would be ok in what instead and in truth is a fcked up world Of course, it has to do with my interpretation of the situation, but it always lends itself to deeper thought, or it will allow me to be able to gain some fresh insight into the problem.

If you haven’t read Rumi, you will not regret reading this. Here is a small selection, that was read at a friend’s funeral: He is THAT magnificent a magician. Because then there is this other bit that I love: I enter a convoluted dream of someone else and emerge with maybe bzrks few words of wisdom. The translation is great but the content is very hard to put into context View all 7 comments. It’s hard to believe these works were written centuries upon centuries ago.

At 14 I read Walt Whitman’s co! And you ca one of my Goodfriends “Friends” has rated this book 2 stars and explains this by saying he thinks the translator has taken huge liberties with the original, Rumi, that is.
Somehow each gives barjs appearance of the other. It is impossible not to be moved by Rumi’s words in this compilation.
